MUKWAN, SPAIN—Mukwanda Oil Co. said Tuesday it is “mixed” after its oil, taal, was banned by FIFA for use in cooking.
The world’s largest oil producer of oil, Makwanda said it was banned because it used a type of oil called “tar” to cook with.
Tar is the byproduct of oil production and is a common component in the production of other types of cooking oils.
“We are currently studying the issue and will continue to do so in a constructive manner,” the company said in a statement.
“As a non-participating party in the FIFA process, Makweya has the right to pursue its own investigation.”
The company said it would appeal FIFA’s decision.
